Qantas VERY annoying classic award seat allocation.
Qantas business virtually does not exists on many routes. However often there are plenty of seats on Emirates operated planes. WTF? How it is possible that it is cheaper for Qantas to resell Emirates seats instead of offering their own? It is bizarre to say least.
"stupid domestic J plus international WHY combo" - I have better example BKK-SYD in economy and SYD-MEL in JQ Star Class and this weird "combo" appears in "Business" column.
Oh, TRB, I LOVE to ditch this entire Qantas FF scheme and switch to SQ KrisFlyer, but just stuck with all those point-earning schemes. If I would fly for business say once per month, then I would do it decade ago. But I mainly earn points not by flying and try to get one trip per years utilizing points as least partially. So far I successfully completing my quizzes, but it takes so much time and energy it is no joke.
Also I am OK (not saying that I am happy with, but can understand) that classic award seats are limited. But what I cannot get why I have to spend all evening and check EACH AND EVERY day of month ONE BY ONE to find out that all business seats actually with “i” that says “You will fly economy from Bangkok to Sydney”. Why it is impossible to generate report that state whole months seats availability PROPERLY?
Use expertflyer. If you find availabilty on expertflyer and but nothing on the QF website, then I'd call QF call centre and ask them to confirm availability. Then get them to book it and waive the admin fee on the basis that their online system is incompetent and you should not be penalised as a result.
It does, you just need to select 'Emirates' and look for 'Saver Award and Upgrades', which are often (but not necessarily always) the same type of awards available when using Qantas points to book an Emirates flight.
I used to use FlightStats to check inventory, and it worked for QF, but then the site axed that functionality so it only has flight tracking and price checking. How useless.
I THINK its all about the "fuel surcharges" they can get away with. It all goes into the pot. Try booking BNE>>HKG you are alwasy offered BNE>>SYD>>HKG, then try SYD>>HKG, always it seems to come up SYD>>>MEL>>>HKG or SYD>>>BNE>>>HKG. I booked to go to HKG in Early January and the only non stop option was wit CX, second time I have done this. I had a few hundred thousand QF points to use up, these are the last of them

Oh, I noticed that too. I was amazed I was even able to find that one seat for myself on QF35 yesterday to Singapore.
Annoying as all hell as the engine kept trying to route me on some stupid domestic J plus international WHY combo, or an EK flight ex-BNE to SIN.

Serg,
Why do you still stick with Qantas if it bothers you so?

Thanks Chris. Emirates award availability is published on expertflyer but you need to do an Emirates inventory search.
First: Z inventory
Business: D inventory
Economy: N inventory

Agree with you watson374, it was a great site to check flight loads, but not be anymore.
