Longest delay?

Given air Asia's 40 hour delay, what's the longest you've been delayed on a flight?

About the same with air Asia during the Bali volcano. We were through customs when they cancelled and it took us 12 hours to be let out. I have some sympathy for the passengers in that story but the reporting was rather dramatized with people saying that had no food or water like they were on a desert island or something.

3 days ages ago in former USSR due to winter weather in destination (so we been told). Thankfully it was when I flying from home, so as least I have proper place to sleep. Eventually cancel flight.

I just wonder where is downvote brigade? Question is not about lounge menu of new business class layout, so must be downvoted.

I vote for getting rid of the up/down votes. What purpose do they serve: anonymous disapprobation without reason?

Not to mention the sheep mentality. Perhaps only make the up / down tally visible once you vote.

Agree RE rid of votes. What is the purpose of anonymous votes? And if you disagree then post your opinion. Currently looks like kindergarten game.

Should check out the thread on "smallest international plane you've been on"... clean sweep of downvotes!

You can vote me down, but you can't shut me up! Except for David and Chris :-)

As for the OP's question, I've been lucky and never had a delay longer than a few hours... if I'm sitting in a nice lounge, they can delay it all they like!

On voting:

1. I suspect some people are downvoting on Serg. Sorry mate, try not to take it personally!

2. I have an open mind towards the fate of up/down comment voting, will consider this.

I just discovered you can up/down without even being logged in. So, any Tom, Jane or Harry can do it.  That makes no sense to me.

Wilsoni: well that's definitely not supposed to be the case – we'll have that fixed in the new site for sure.

David,

RE: 1.  I do not care at all, just too old for such kindergarten games. Also I vote very rarely when really like someone comment and do not remember if I ever downvoting. In short - do not worry about my mental health :-)))

RE: 2. Perhaps it is wise to give everybody who voted ability to see who and how voted for the post. What is hide here and why anyone ever needs anonymous votes?

Back in December 2011 my flight on BA from NYC to LON was cancelled due to massive snow storm in Europe/UK. Next available flight wasnt for 4 days! Thankfully for a poor backpacking student BA paid for hotel and 3 meals a day and I scored a free upgrade to J class once I finally flew.

Admittedly not a "delay" as such but it certainly delayed my arrival. Made it home for Christmas, just!
