Hi all, flying to London on Singapore Airlines - I have Velocity points - is it better to book a flexi through VA or transfer to Kris Flyer programme and book the tix directly with Singapore airlines, to improve my chance of an upgrade?
Agree with LP. Best to buy a an economy with SQ then upgrade.
To use Velocity points in SQ you have to be a member of Kris Flyer , link you Velocity and Kris flyer accounts then transfer velocity points into Kris Miles. When you transfer you will lose about 25% + of your Velocity points when they are converted into Kris Miles.Still well worth it as SQ have by far the worlds best Business class I have ever used.
Remember to book on flights that don't have PE, as you can only upgrade from economy to business if there is no PE, otherwise you have to book a PE fare to upgrade to business.

You wont be getting an upgrade on singapore airlines unless you use the points to book a J ticket or pay cash.

A points upgrade on a paid fare?
You can't upgrade a purchased flexi VA fare on SQ metal - so you'd be stuck in economy. Best to buy economy with SQ and upgrade.
But the points difference on SQ between upgrading a paid fare and outright business reward really isn't high. You'd be better aiming for that.
