International Departures at Melbourne Airport. My wife and I are travelling to separate destinations from Melbourne Airport soon. My wife is flying from International, whereas, I fly to Sydney from domestic. As she departs about two hours before me am I allowed to go through the security checks at Melbourne Airport into the International departures area to wave her off?
in a word.. NO..ONLY ticketed pax with boarding passes, passports etc can go further than the ENTRY to customs/immigration/security..there will be an officer at the entrance checking EVERY persons documents...you will need to 'say your goodbyes' BEFORE she passes thru the ENTRY to customs/immigration/security area..easy to find..there's usually masses of family/friends hanging around the entrance saying their goodbyes to others!!
There are a handful of Jetstar flights that depart from the international terminal and go to Sydney. Unless you're on one of these flights then you can't enter the airside of the international terminal to see your wife off.

No, only passengers with boarding passes are allowed through the sterile area.
