Morning all.

I am a gold member and my wife red.
Travelling to LAX in September and want to upgrade to Business with points.
45000 points for upgrade.
Does me being gold allow my wife to also upgrade with 45000 points if we are under the same booking?

I checked the UpgradeMe terms and conditions, and unfortunately there isn't anything explicitly said about that.


However in general, non-status passengers on the same booking as you are usually entitled to the same seat selection privileges etc, so I'd imagine that would extend to upgrade requests because you can only upgrade all passengers on an itinerary.

Keep in mind you both need to be booked on a Freedom Economy fare or Premium Saver fare to upgrade to Business for 45,000 points.

To be safest, I'd give them a call or message them via Facebook.

Velocity on FB referred me straight back to the member centre.

Guess I'd best go ring them and get the answer.

Yes it does, recently did that for Melbourne to hong kong upgrade, myself as only gold, upgraded both tickets without an issue.

Hi - had the same situation last year. I am platinum, my partner is red (his points are pooled into mine), and we were able to upgrade from Economy to Business using points from a higher based fare. I would assumue nothing has changed, but could only do the upgrade over the phone from memory. Good Luck!

if you're both on the same booking then the Gold (or plat) member can request an upgrade for both pax. "20.1.2 UpgradeMe Points flight upgrades can be redeemed by a Member for their own use or for the use of other guests. The Points used to redeem an UpgradeMe Points flight upgrade will be deducted from the Member’s Membership Account at the time of processing."

The final answer - yes.

As long as the guest is travelling with the Gold member on the same schedule then they are eligible for the upgrade at the same cost.

And finally - i apologize for the terrible spelling of the word "business" in the main heading. Where was auto correct when i needed it?
