LAN increases Sydney services

In yet another sign that business travel has bounced back, LAN Airlines has resumed daily weekday flights from Sydney to Santiago, Chile after the service was curtailed during the global economic downturn.

The LA800 flight departs Sydney at 9:55am, then heads via Auckland to Santiago where it arrives at 12:10pm the same day.

From LAN’s Santiago hub the airline offers flights to 35 Latin American destinations in 10 countries including Brazil, Peru and Argentina.

It's a long 16 hour flight from Sydney to Santiago, so we'd suggest booking one of the 42 lie-flat business class cocoons in LAN's Airbus A340-300 rather than squeezing into the 218 economy seats.

LAN Airlines is part of Oneworld and codeshares some flights with Qantas, among others.

Lan Chile is also Lan Peru, Lan Brazil and by far the best in South America. Their South America pass is excellent value too. Especialy if you are doing RW and you need to cut back on some sectors. Yeah it might be 14hrs but it's alot better than hubing through USA and a lot cheaper!! If you are going to Spain it's a seamless service and you avoid Heathrow and Busness is pretty good.

If you are holidays they also code share Air Tahiti Nui and you can do SYD, PPT, Easter Island, Santiago and come back via Auckland. This is often cheaper than a return to PPT on Air Tahiti.
