In terms of spending points quickly, there's also donations to charities (which start from 2900 points=$25). Unfortunately this isn't tax deductible, but it's another relatively low cost option.

Just to reply to my own comment, it looks like Virgin has updated their website to now say "The Brisbane ‘My Lounge’ will be opening in early 2019."

With respect to the "My Lounge", the previous article said that it is "due to open towards the end of November". We are already "towards the end of November" (and the actual end is only 4 days away) - do you know if there's been a delay?

I have a same day return trip coming up in QF domestic business. Am I able to use the lounge on arrival if I show my return boarding pass (as that will be my next onward flight that day), even though the flight will be 8+ hours later? If so, does that prevent me from using the lounge again later ...

Apparently the state with the highest Taiwanese population in Australia is QLD, with a population about 25% higher than the next state (NSW). CI has flights to BNE, SYD and MEL so perhaps BR didn't feel that there was much enough additional room for them to play. https://www.dss.gov.au/our-r...
