If you were in Y or PE and have a long layover between flights, the chance to shower, freshen up, eat and drink in a relatively quiet environment might seem good value. You're not going to get that at a good bar.

Qantas are already doing biometric boarding at LAX. No need to show your passport or boarding pass to enter the gate. A BP is still needed on the plane although that can be electronic too.BTW, I dislike the interaction and time wasting associated with check in desks (and queuing) and ground staf...

However, the speed at which passengers will be processed will no doubt increase, thus leading to a requirement for less scanners. I’m pretty sure BAA would not spend nearly $100m to make the screening process slower.

Another feature of the QF flight is landing at T3. Due to it being the only international flight landing at that time, as a business class passenger (i.e. first out of the plane) you can be in a taxi/Uber within 5 mins of arriving if travelling only with hand luggage - this is definitely not poss...

Qantas use âat the time of travelâ to define a child's age, so if a child turns 12 during the itinerary then an adult fare would apply.

Certainly with Qantas, cash upgrades are processed after most points upgrades have been dealt with. Platinum requests are processed 3 days out and gold requests about 30hrs out (unsure on others). Cash upgrades are processed <24hrs out if there's anything still remaining. As mspcooper suggests...
