Cathay Pacific reveals new-look website

Cathay Pacific shifts to a new website later this month, with the airline promising "a state-of-the-art platform" built to enable future upgrades to online and mobile services, along with giving the website "a fresh look and feel, with enhanced navigation and an improved site structure."

Here's a sneak peek at Cathay's new home page, which will kick on after the changeover weekend of June 22-23.

Having logged on, you'll see a revamped 'Manage Booking' page....

... with the obligatory online checkin.

The airline promises a smoother experience for its Marco Polo frequent flyers as well.

Cathay warns that that its online and mobile services won't be available from 11pm on June 22nd to 1pm on June 23rd, Hong Kong time. However, airport and telephone services will operate as usual.

If you're flying that weekend, be sure to carry out any online tasks ahead of time.

"Passengers travelling during the stoppage period are advised to bring a copy of their electronic ticket or boarding pass to the airport" Cathay suggests.

"No increase in queuing times at the airport is anticipated, but passengers may still wish to arrive at the airport earlier than normal."

During the cutover weekend, passengers can visit Cathay Pacific’s Facebook page or Twitter channel for updated information including flight status.

Passengers can also contact the airline’s eService Hotline at +852 2747-2200 (Hong Kong) or +800 2747-2200 (worldwide toll free) across the weekend.

That's good news because I always felt Cathay Pacific's website needed a make over. It had some old-style features but this new one looks slick and easy-to-manage.

I hope they do a better job than SIngapore Airlines did when they launched heir new website. That was a disaster of epic proportions.

From the pics, the re-design looks a lot more sleek and functional. I hope their neighbour carriers (China Southern, Eastern and China Airlines) follow suit. I can't even making bookings on China Eastern's websites...
