Etihad to start AUH - HKT flights in October. Any chance of a codeshare expansion with VA? Thought? I believe AB already fly AUH-HKT but I don't think it is part of the exisiting codeshare agreement with VA. These agreements more often than not seem well in favour of the other airlines over VA. I can see the possibility of EY being able to codeshare with VA from HKT to say Perth and onto BNE,SYD and MEL, but not vice versa.

It'll really depend on the flight timings, but even still I doubt EY would want to codeshare on VA metal between HKT and PER because EY will be flying between AUH and PER before then.

Likewise, I don't expect VA would codeshare on EY or AB metal between HKT and AUH for the same reason. The only argument in favour of VA doing this would be to boost feed on their route, but I'd be flippant if I were connecting onto a long-haul 737 flight after disembarking a B777/A330 from AUH.

Just for the record: The EY service will replace the existing AB service.
