Qantas recently deleted all international flights out of Perth.
I hoped that I would have ready access to the Emirates flights going to Europe using my points. There is not even 1 flight available for FF - even 12 months in advance - even for a Life Gold FF - some loyalty scheme... They even suggest that I fly home to Perth (from London) via Melbourne.... what about me? Is there a way to address this

Indeed. Both fly out of PER and offer connections to Europe. OP might need to ring up the FF call centre though.

There are no problems with CX availability out of Perth if booking long in advance. I am guessing you have phoned QF to find availability. Highly advise against this approach, as they will only search the airlines you specifically ask them to do so, and typically one at a time. Online search is much more effective. If your travel involves airlines the QF search doesnt show, eg. MAS or JAL, then use their sites or expertflyer.com first to check their availability, then ring QF to book.

You can also open a BA Executive Club account and use their search tool. It reflects award space on all OW carriers (such as CX, JL, MH). Very effective as award space reflected on BA is in general available to all OW carriers.

thanks for all ideas so far...
But what happened to the 21hr flight to London, both CX and MH are approx. 30hr(ish) with long stop-overs.
If the Emirates deal replaced Qantas on some routes (eg Perth), does Emirates provide FF seats to Qantas for its customers? If so when and how far in advance?

CX offers 22 hours PER - HKG - LHR, and 21 hours on the way home.
QFF works well for international rewards if you use the partners, but abysmal if you dont.

I have tried myself.
Easy to get flights into perth say from London . Try getting business out is a task and a half and normally is no chance at all. I think they just try to make the whole thing too hard.
i have found Qatar,Cathay and Emirates do come up from time to time but it's a lottery.
Maybe see if u can get up and back to Hong Kong and buy from there onwards
