I should, perhaps, quantify my question. Given that 'RedQ' is not going to spring up out of the ground, Qantas passengers wishing to fly beyond the 7 cities that Qantas directly serves from Australia are often transferred onto Jetstar Asia codeshares. There has been much debate about the attractiveness for business travelers switching in Singapore from a wide bodied 'J' cabin to the A320 all business class product that Jetsar Asia fly, and this post is NOT related to that well discussed topic.
My question is: Having chosen to book a 3K Jetstar Asia flight (often carrying a Qantas codeshare flight number) what FF perks are included (lounge access, ff points, status credits etc). For example, there is no published information on the Qantas website about lounge access in Kuala Lumpar when on the Qantas codeshare with Jetstar to Singapore. The check in staff are KLIA generic staff and looked at me with blank faces when I asked about lounge access, and it it was only when I decided to try accessing the MAS Golden Lounge in KL did I find out the Qantas has an arrangement to allow QF Platinum/Gold and Business Class passengers to access the Cathay Pacific lounge IF they are on the code share flight with a connecting flight to Australia that day.........sorry for the long explanation, but as you can see its not on the Qantas website, the check in staff had no idea, and only by going to the MAS lounge did I find out this arrangement existed.
So if AusBT were looking for a project a succinct guide highlighting lounge access, and clarifying the FF points SC issue on Jetstar Asia codeshare flights, when booking with Qantas from Australia to Asia would be fantastic! It would certainly make me happier to book work trips to Asian destinations knowing the short Jetstar leg was less.....LCC :)
And by quantify, i mean qualify....
Ah, I get where you're coming from. It's something we can look into, although to be honest I'm not certain it would attract sufficient traffic to be worth the time to research & write unless we could have Qantas/Jetstar 'sponsor' the article.

Hi David, I think DrT is on to something here. I myself have often wondered why Qantas management makes it so difficult to understand the codeshare/connection perks and pitfalls with its relatively large Asian routes out of Singapore or even across the Tasman.
Had the same experience recently and nobody could tell me whether extra baggage allowance, lounge access, preferred seating etc. would work if I transfer from a Jetstar Asia flight to Qantas Intl (e.g CHC-HKG or SYD-KUL).
I can understand that Qantas wants to keep Jetstar quite seperate domestically, which it can because tickets are not cross sold across both airlines. But with more and more codesharing/common ticketing on the International routes, its a huge grey area what we can expect on an international Jetstar flight that is sold as an add on to a Qantas international flight. IMO, Qantas is loosing out on ticket sales by not clarifying. It is very off-putting for regular flyers not to know what awaits and whether my 2nd bag is going to cause problems checking in at KUL, CHC or elsewhere where tickets were sold by Qantas, yet there is a Jetstar sector.
Tried asking the Platinum helpline previously also. They were clueless. Jetstar staff simply wide eyed and had no information either.
Well Trip88 I can confirm that KUL-SIN when sold as a QF codeshare on Jetstar Asia comes with lounge access (Cathay Lounge). Not as nice as the MAS Golden Lounge, but respectable and with a great view.Also, as you are probabaly aware Jetstar print codes on their boarding passes indicating what you baggage allowance is, meals purchesed etc. The QF codeshare when sold with a business class ticket from SIN-Australia gives you 30kg of checked luggage, $5 meal voucher and the Jetstar ammenity kit (not really needed for a 45 minute flight...)So David if AusBT could approach Qantas/Jetstar for sponsorship/info it would be appreciated!
