Virgin Australia lounge access - My partner is flying domestic business class with VA and I'm sending her to the airport. I was wondering if I could be granted access to the VA lounge along with my partner while she is waiting for her flight, even though I am not flying (FYI I have Velocity Gold membership - and I do know that in itself does not grant access unless you are actually flying)? What are people's experience? Do they let in guests of those flying J class, when the guests aren't flying that day? I did it once for a QF flight, allowing a non-flying friend into the Business lounge. Wondering if VA would do the same? Thanks.

as far as I can see/read, via VAs website, a '+1' is only allowed if the travelling pax is a 'VA lounge member or gold/higher velocity member' (is your partner any of these??)... just flying J/C doesn't allow her '+1' (irrespective of the status of the +1)

that's how I interpret the rules/conditions

The rules aren't that clear UTR, and sadly no, my partner has no status with VA. I find that lounge access with VA varies on who you speak to. One evening I was arriving into Melb before connecting to an int'l flight not linked to VA. While a Velocity Silver member at the time but flying J class, the Melb VA lounge granted me arrival lounge access because they weren't overly busy (even though technically I'm not entitled too as per the lounge access rules!).

Anywho, I called up the lounge in Adl and the agent who answered said I could use the lounge in my situation due to my Gold status rather than my partner flying J class (but of note, I booked her flight using my points, so technically if it was me flying not her I could bring her into the lounge....but not the other way around. Strange huh?). It's not an explicit perk mentioned anywhere on the VA website so I hope I don't rock up on Monday and find out I'm denied entry as that specific agent I talked to isn't there!

I reckon it's one of the pluses of flying VA is that they can be flexible in accommodating you, but probably shouldn't expect this entitlement each and every time....
