New Qantas New York - Sydney flights

If I understand correctly, with the new retimings of Qantas flights from Australia to New York, we will fly on an A380 on the morning 9.50am departure (QF11) and then jump on the BNE 747 to New york - Great.

However, on the return, as QF12 is still leaving at the same time and not being rescheduled, will the JFK-LAX-SYD flight be on a 747 the entire way?

It depends on what you book, but over the summer if it's the BNE 744 doing the tag to JFK (as opposed to the usual SYD 744), both SYD flights will be on A380s.

That is, I believe this arrangement will hold up after the schedule change just announced (which is, for the record, a good thing). They need to retire another 744, I think, and therefore need to squeeze more utlisation out of the A380s.

The Sydney flights will continue to be operated by A380 (QF11/12) and B744 (QF17/18). It will not be a double daily A380 service
