Arriving from International J flight and access to Domestic Qantas club in Melbourne.

Hi all, I arrive on Sunday morning to Melbourne from Shanghai flying J with China Eastern but on a Qantas ticketed code share. I have my christmas family day on that day and have to go straight there also. Am I able to use the domestic Qantas club to have a quick shower and then head to the party? I know with virgin if you have a same day boarding pass from J. I am also Qantas Gold. Would be useful to use but not sure if I can do this.

Many thanks for the assistance

I believe you will need an onward boarding pass to gain access to the Domestic Qantas Club (QP) in T1, so no. As I understand it, access to the QP without a boarding pass was a Platinum-only perk removed some years back.

If you just need a shower, there are public landside showers in T2 in the bathrooms near the Nando's; if you really, really want to get into the QP you could book a seat on a much later flight on a fully-refundable ticket, then cancel the ticket from your computer as soon as you enter the lounge.

You need to have an onward QF or JQ flight to access the domestic lounge.

If you have a towel and your own soap, you can use the public shower near the Nandos. It's honestly not too bad and if you just want to get clean for the family it's adequate.

With regards to Watson suggestion regarding cancelling the ticket do many people do this? Is it common thing and does it work. I always thought you needed the boarding pass and frequent flyer card/status to enter the VA lounge/QP?? Which would mean you are already checked in and then cannot cancel/refund the ticket? Would perhaps consider trying this if ever in a similar situation to LoveToFly.

It's certainly not unheard of. As a QF SG, LoveToFly will be able to access the QP if they have an onward boarding pass for any Jetstar or Qantas domestic flight. They could buy a refundable fare on an afternoon hop to Launceston, arrive at T2, walk over to T1, check in (hand luggage only, obviously), clear security, enter the lounge with the boarding pass, then sit down and cancel the ticket for a refund before consuming breakfast and taking a shower.

I believe there's more information on the two other QFF forums.
