FF points on an airline issued upgrade?

I was lucky to score and upgrade to J at the gate when flying Qatar Airways recently as the flight was overbooked. When I collect the frequent flyer points, would it normally be for J class or what I booked and paid for?

Forget it. Indeed you should be happy enough with free upgrade. I would.

Despite the comments above, we were flying back from CDG-PER last year on MH in business class.  It was a French long weekend and extremely busy and plane was chockers.  At the gate, we were upped to F, along with another Australian couple similarly upgraded.  We all blessed our luck, and joked that to round it off, we hoped for F points.  About a week after getting home, thats what came thru.
