Hi, I'm flying to HKG on QF, then to PEK on Dragon Air. Can anyone offer advice on the best lounge to access during my stopover? I have One world emerald status. Thanks!

Cathay's The Pier F lounge is good. I think in Cathay's The Wing First lounge, the first class part of the lounge is still being renovated, however there is a special part of the lounge reserved for First/Emerald passengers if memory serves me. Would not recommend the QF lounge.

Good advice from MattDC – head straight for the Cathay lounges. You have three choices: The Wing, The Cabin and The Pier. Which you choose will mainly depend on your transit time in HK between the incoming Qantas flight and the outbound Dragon Air flight, and which gate the Dragon Air flight leaves from.

If you have short transit time then pick the lounge that's closest to the Dragon Air flight – Wing, Cabin & Pier are all good, although at this point only The Pier has a proper First (oneworld Emerald) section.

The Cabin is shared between first and biz, is a very different lounge to the others and has a livelier vibe. The Wing has closed its wonderful First section due to a refurb, it'll re-open in early 2013, and while there is a small 'roped-off' First section in the Wing Business lounge, you get no special food/services/etc. That said, the Wing Business is amazing for its Noodle Bar, Loft cafe and good buffets, showers etc.

If you have a long transit time, take advantage of the opportunity to sample The Pier for your main meal, The Cabin to check out Cathay's mod new look, then The Wing for a snack of noodles, coffee or pastry items...

Last month while in HK, I decided to go to The Wing, fantastic! But, I too am OneWorld Emerald, the first area of the lounge is nothing to rave about, all they do is serve you drinks... And there was a man there with a very loud iPad that was watching BBC news over and over again. I like The Cabin (more brighter) better than The Wing business lounge, but I cannot wait until the first section has opened!

Thanks for the advice. I ended up in the Wing Lounge and enjoyed the noodle bar! great service as usual from the CX staff. I would definitely recommend to fellow travellers.
