I will easily retain my Platinum One status again this year, probably with about 3 months of busy flying to go before status reassessment. I am just wondering if I would lose out on any "hidden" advantage if I fly VA instead of QF once I have secures P1? What do others do in this situation? Thanks

There is no life platinum with Qantas.
One can obtain it with AA but that's the only one im aware of that offer lifetime OneWorld Emerald lifetime.
You could always try to get a status match from VA once you gain P1 and not loose anything.

Nope AA does not provide Lifetime Executive Platinum (OW Emerald).
It provides only Lifetime Platinum (OW Sapphire) and Lifetime Gold (OW Ruby aka useless).
BA and Finnair both provide lifetime Emerald status (BA Gold, AY Platinum)

On a side note samson12,
easily retain Plat 1... You must either travel to America or London a lot or you must really love Emirates!
