QF Double Status Promotion.

Hi All,

Can anyone please clarify if QF Code share flights ie: QF Number and booking but operated by EK qualify for double status credits? I have been told 2 different things by QF.

The conditions on the website exclude code shares other than specific AA flights between Sydney and LA and Auckland and LA.

Read the terms and conditions of the promotion and you'll have your answer as clear as day.

Thanks guys. When I spoke with QF I was told that QF code share flights would be eligiable for double status credits. Today I got an email saying that it was only for QF opperated flights.

Sounds like the call centre person didn't read the material fully...

Call centre operators are in a difficult position. QF FF services don't operate on a Sunday therefore if you, as a traveller, have a query, like I also did yesterday (and I also presume that Martin did as well based on the time of his post) then call centre operators who aren't as well versed in the intricacies of promotions and FF conditions etc can struggle. The call centre person I spoke to was very helpful, I had booked a return status run to Auckland flying Emerates business class as it was only marginally dearer than QF's but obviously a lot more luxurious. Then I thought above the terms and had a rethink so I rang the call centre, the operator explained to me that usually they would simply defer to FF services for an answer, however, as they don't operate on a Sunday this made getting a clear answer problemtaic, although she did attempt to help and asked me if I was prepared to wait she would check the terms and ask other operators for their opinions. It  didn't take long before she returned and said that based on how they read the terms and conditions that EK codeshare flights would not be eligible, however, she was happy to make notes on my booking and I would have been allowed to hold it over until today when I could double check with FF services wether it was eligible or not and I could have still cancelled my booking with no penalties if the flight wasn't eligible, this I thought was very reasonable of QANTAS to do (as it would have been after the end of day grace that you get to cancel an incorrect booking). however I checked AUST BUS website whilst we were chatting and noticed the comments in the post that cleary said "Not Emirates Codeshares" so I advised her that I would cancell my booked codeshare and I rebooked flying QF so as to maximise the staus bonus offer. It is a staus run and whilst travelling with Emerates in buisness on an A380 would have been wonderful the objective is still the same, get the credits which I will.

Looks like RES gave you some other incorrect info, dazzaredroo.

QF Frequent Flyer (based in HBT) is definitely available on Sunday. Indeed, I spent 20 minutes on the phone with them yesterday clarifying some AA F Class redemption awards for my next trip.

Hope this helps.

Thanks kimshep for the update (although  apart from what I posted above I'm not certain what the 'other' information is you have referred to considering you bolded that?), I suppose not only was the RES staffer incorrect it also appears that QANTAS website is as well.

Unless of course you are Platinum, in which case you may have access through your priority line. Which of course is only available to Plats and not every other FF. Or perhaps Tasmania is in a different time zone. I am certain that someone more knowledgeable than either you or I such as David or Chris could enlighten us regarding this ambiguity.  Cheers

Hey dazzaredroo,

Although 'tiered' I called them on 13 11 31 (which is the standard FF number) and the voice-system responded as QFF.As you suggest, there are specialised numbers for Silver, Gold, Plats etc but I usually can't be bothered foraging around. The consultant also identified herself as QFF.

Their standard RES number is 13 13 13 for flight books - with or without points.

I agree with your comments on the website. It shows the same information "Qantas Frequent Flyer Service Centre between the hours of 7am and 7pm (AEST) Monday to Saturday and speak to one of our consultants." Perhaps the policy has changed? But Hobart has been the centre of the QFF hotline for a few years now.
