Have all B777-300ER's been upgraded to "The Business"? I'm planning to fly Apr 20, BNE-MEL-LAX.

Is it a much better product than the B747 BNE-LAX (Business class)?

Yes they have refurbished all of their 777-30ER.

The hard product is up their with the best I feel.
Flown it a few times. I've never flown the old version but looking at photos, this looks like a far superior product. You have more room in your mini 'suite' and more storage. Try and avoid the last two rows of the front section and first 2 rows of the back section of business, the bar can get noisy if you're trying to catch up on zzzz.

All of Virgin's Boeing 777s have been upgraded to The Business and yes it's way better than the competing business class on the Qantas Boeing 747 or the A380 for that matter, as they both use the same 'SkyBed II' seat. Virgin's seat is wider, the bed is longer and fully flat unlike the 'droop' in the SkyBed II due to its age, you also get a bigger video screen, more space to spread out the things you want near you, of course direct aisle access, oh and if you're plugging in your laptop it's much easier to find and reach the AC powerpoint on the Virgin seat compared to the Qantas seat. Add the inflight bar/lounge area and Virgin's business class is better by a country mile!

Yes they have all been upgrade, and a colleague of mine returned from the states today and said the service and food was very good. I am curious as to why you are flying to Melbourne to take a flight to LA with VA, when VA offer more services out of BNE than MEL. In addition to this BNE is a far superior terminal, as well as less travel time.

It's a cracker. Flew it over & back over Christmas. I usually try to be loyal to Qantas but this is a step change over the Skybed. Unless your Qantas loyalty is a deciding factor, go for it.

Love the new VA 777 business class - relaxed & cozy. Can easily get 8 hours sleep. It also seems that now that each passenger gets his / her own overhead space, no more sharing when it was 2-3-2.

Hi Mightyreds, the direct flight from BNE-LAX is $2000 dearer (one way!!!) compared to BNE-MEL-LAX.

However, thanks to you, i went back today to cross check the website and to my surprise, the prices are the same direct to LAX!!! So, i changed it. Thank you for making me go back and cross check. Even though it would have been nice to get those extra status credits, spending 5 hrs (flight plus transit) is not fun.
