I just booked QF 11 from Sydney to New York and was receiving an error message when I tried to select seats. I know the aircraft changes from an A380 to a B747 at LAX, but it allowed me to select seats all the way on the return from JFK to SYD. Has anyone else had this problem on the outbound trip? Any suggestions on how to resolve?
Different route, but I've had something similar happen to me previously. I ended up phoning the the QFF call centre and getting them to select the seats for me.
This is a known issue.. as mentioned due to the "change of gauge" ie. change of aircraft using same flight number.. the only way to pre allocate seating is to call QF reservations.. and they will assist... mentioning "change of gauge" may help...

I had the same problem 18 months ago. Just ring the QFF call centre & they will sort you out.
