Booked QF1 flex economy, will Qantas prioritise PE upgrade request over J upgrade request?

I booked flex economy QF1 Sydney to London in June. If I request upgrade for both PE and J, which class will Qantas prioritise first? Will Qantas try to upgrade me first to J then to PE or PE then to J? If it's the latter, then I will opt out of PE upgrade request. Thank you for your guidance.

They will prioritise the one you ask for. For example if it is PE it will be PE if it is business they will offer you the chance for PE if business doesn’t come off. It doesn’t work the other way simply because more points are involved. I find on the Perth London sector the business upgrade at 100000 is a bit over the top so I will settle for PE at around half that which for me is more affordable.

If you request a business class upgrade with premium economy as as backup (the only way to request both), then you'll be assessed for the business class upgrade first, and then premium economy only if you miss out.

I have called Qantas customer service and asked them to prioritise PE over Business before - that was about four years ago. I would imagine the customer service staff could set up a custom prioritisation for you on request over the phone.
