• Does anyone know if CDIJ (used to be FIP class) for first-class Alaska Airline fares is still classified as FIrst class earn rates by Qantas? I checked and it looks like wording hasn't been updated (still doesn't state status credits are earnt - so I also assume the table hasn't been updated).&nb...

  • You can earn points and status credits on flights you book directly with AA provided they fall within one of the eligible booking classes (see link below). It has always been the case you can earn Qantas points and status credits on AA marketed flights, however Qantas recently increased the statu...

  • Legally they are no allowed to as per Cabotage rules. See https://www.aopa.org/travel/international-travel/cabotageAlso, Qantas recently got fined by the DOT for selling codeshare tickets that started and ended in the USA. https://skift.com/2018/03/29/dot-slaps-qantas-for-violating-obscure-u-s-law/

  • I had that same story too from a QF flight attendant when we talked about the new Chicago route. They mentioned the timing the launch was meant to be soon after September 2001. The sharp decline in air travel demand forced the plans to be shelved.

  • @Concorde1990, the baggage allowance for QF Gold and Platinum FF has been 2 x 32 kg for a few years now. It's not a recent development.I was personally hoping that Qantas would give 3 x 32 kg bags for Platinum (just like AA does for OW Emerald and their AA Executive Platinum)

It might be different if you book it through the AA.com Australian web site? I noticed when looking up that s...

  • I noticed that with the rules - requiring international Qantas Lounge guests of a QFF Platinum/Gold member to be on the same flight as opposed to their guests being on an onward Oneworld flight as applies to other Oneworld Emerald/Sapphire flyers. I think it's unusual to me that Qantas would be m...

  • I have called Qantas customer service and asked them to prioritise PE over Business before - that was about four years ago. I would imagine the customer service staff could set up a custom prioritisation for you on request over the phone.

  • AA's complimentary baggage allowance for flights from U.S. or to / from Canada, Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands: 3 x 70 lbs (32 kg) bags if OW Emerald (Qantas Platinum/Platinum One/Chairmans Lounge)2 x 50 lbs (23 kg) bags if OW Sapphire (Qantas Gold)1 x 50 lbs ...

  • Another point to keep in mind:I'm not sure how many bags you're checking in. Just be aware of the different baggage allowance when on the two carriers, particularly on two seperate PNRs.1 x 23 kgs for AA segment for Ruby (silver status) in economy and 3 x 32kgs for the first class segment with Qa...
