if your looking for more 'hours' in the F lounge and have no need to checkin bags then online checkin/print BP is likely your best option - otherwise I understand 3hrs at checkin.

The following story might help you make best use of your QF First lounge experience.

http://www.ausbt.com.au/seven-expert-tips-to-make-the-most-of-the-qantas-first-class-lounge

"Most passengers can check in for international flights three hours before departure.

Qantas makes an exception for Airbus A380 services to Los Angeles: check-in opens four hours before the flight, to help get all 450 passengers on board in quick time.

But Qantas Platinum cardholders travelling with carry-on baggage only can arrive at the airport an astonishing eight hours before their flight provided they've used online checkin and printed out their boarding pass (or have had their passes printed at another airport before a connecting flight)."

Though not SYD, but keep in mind that if you're departing either LAX or LHR, then Qantas check-in opens 5 hours before the flight, regardless of your status or luggage.  This detail is on the Qantas website, but it's not listed on the page that outlnes various check-in times, but on the page for each airport, so it's difficult to find.

Are there any other overseas airports that Qantas has a 5-hour check-in time for all passengers?

Check in at LAX opens at 2.30pm for Australian Flights.  These don't leave until after 10.30pm.
