Hi All, took a gamble when the double status credit promo was on and booked a trip (all business class) for the family to Tasmania for Christmas. This will push me over to platinum.
Looking at the way the covid situation is developing, it seems unlikely that Tassie will allow us Sydneysiders in by December.
So I'll change the booking if we can't go, but will wait until the last minute to confirm. Probably change the flight date to a few months later
The key though, is if I change the booking. Will the double SC promo still apply to the new flight changed to the early part of the new year?
Bit of a grey area - but what I did earlier this year on a bonus points offer when the same thing happened to me, was to take a credit rather than cancel the flight. The credit was issued with the same booking number and then the rebooking still kept the same booking reference, and I got the bonus points still. Not sure if that was an official position or just luck though.
Changing a booking to a later travel date should not result in the Booking Reference number changing. As such, you should find that double status credits bonus will still be applied as long as you are still within the date-range specified by the offer. That's been my experience when doing similar changes in the past.
What I remember, in the T&C of the promotions they usually mention this and that rescheduling will still retain the double SC or points - as long as the new date is within the period of the promotion (was that February 22?).

Thanks, I'll try doing one of the above closer to the date (once we get an answer that the borders not open again).
