With the no testing requirements for oversea arrivals starting from the 18th April. I wonder if it will apply to me as I am boarding fly back to Australia on the evening of the 17th and arriving in SYD on the 18th morning.
This will eliminate much hassle in trying to get a Covid test done prior to boarding.
Google for Inbound International Travel Australia, and you'll see this text:
"From 18 April 2022 travellers to Australia will no
longer be required to undertake a COVID-19 pre-departure test before boarding
their flight. These changes will come into effect from 18 April 2022. Until
that time all current pre-departure testing will remain in place. Travellers
are reminded that it is your responsibility to ensure you meet the requirements
of the airline you are travelling with and any countries you transit through."
However, will the check-in staff at your departure city know about this change that only starts from the following day?
I recall when Australia open, the planes picked up passenger the day before and allowed to land on the exact morning of the 1st opened day. I was hoping for same here.
I got through to the airline finally but they were not much help. Still insist on PCR even though Australia accepted RAT for arrival since Jan. So I need to search for a place for the tests anyway.
