The Greek flag-carrier already has three factory-fresh A320neo aircraft in its hangars, with another three due in time for the northern summer peak season and 40 more – in both the A320neo and the larger, longer-range A321neo series – to follow.

They'll appear on both domestic and short-range international flights within Europe including Barcelona, Brussels, Frankfurt, Madrid, Marseille, Moscow, Munich, Nice, Tel Aviv, Venice and Zurich.

Apart from the fresh Aegean brand, don't expect any surprises once you step on board: the Star Alliance member is playing it safe with a 'Euro-business class' cabin.

There's a somewhat better-than-economy seat arranged three-across, but with the middle seat left unoccupied and a cocktail table taking the place of a  fellow passenger. That's a decent swap in anybody's book.

The 24 business class seats are followed by 156 economy seats, with streaming WiFi entertainment (but on a BYO device basis) and USB sockets from tip to tail.

PriestmanGoode's new look for Aegean "celebrates the whites and silver-blues of the Greek skies, and the vibrant blue of the Aegean Sea", and represents a total brand make-over for the airline "inspired by Greek cultural and architectural heritage."

Aegean CEO Dimitris Gerogiannis says this marks the beginning of a transformation he is calling "Aegean 2.0" with 24 months of "creative innovation" in products and services.

Having travelled on Aegean in July last year around the Greek Isls I wouldn't pay a cent extra for Business class on these routes. 25min-1hr long.

Enjoyed flying Aegean in Jan 20, food good, free plonk and booked extra legroom which still appears to be the best value v flying business. Also paid for fast track, not a big cost and makes moving through security just that little bit easier.
