I knew a returned serviceman who did this trip multiple times during WWII and was awarded with the 'Order of the double sunrise' by the crew each time...very special when you consider only three passengers per flight.

Have just e-mailed the kids who live in different cities to see if there is any interest before the passes 'expire'.

Ah, the days of Ansett and the Golden Wings Club and their lounges with the almost 'secret' handshake to get through the door have well and truly left the skies, along with un-official benefits like the crew 'offloading' excess unopened bottles of red when getting off the plane...Oh-well, back to...

Let's be honest...a QANTAS steak sandwich served in F and washed down with Penfolds RWT was one of the all-time best yet weird indulgences that I have had flying.So, I say, bring on the high quality 'sliders'...with a splash of Penfolds Bin707...just to fit in with the aviation theme...
