When 'flexible' is not 'flexible, or buyer beware...

Just an expensive observation from a recent trip and changing flight times at the airport to earlier departures with 'flexible' tix, also called 'pushing the friendship a little'...

One airline SAS was happy to shift me onto an earlier flight(s) to get me out of the airport and to my final destination for the day. However Finnair, all too happy to take about AUD$280 to make a similar change.

Interesting how the understanding of 'flexible' ticketing is varied and the need to read the finer details before booking and purchase.

Flexible tickets on most airlines means that you don't have to pay a change fee to change flights, but you do have to pay any fare difference between the ticket you originally bought, and the price of the ticket you are moving to. It's quite common to have to pay to move flights even on a flexible ticket.
