I was thinking more along the lines of doing some work for the business and give some people some work for a few months. Then they wouldn't be furloughed and could do something to benefit the company after the virus.

Disagree. Perfect time to launch a program at keeping spending going. They recognise its not all about themselves (unlike some FF'ers) and doing what they can to keep the economy ticking along.
