Qantas Classic Plus pricing makes long-haul business redemptions effectively unusable (often 1.2M points return to Europe). There are plenty of seats on Qatar business class to Europe, but Qantas FF can't book them with Qantas points. Also transferring Qantas Points into Avios is now blocked by Qantas. This makes my qantas points effectively useless.
Would be interested to hear if anyone has had recent success getting this to work, either booking international business class flights with classic rewards or transferring qantas points to Avios so we can use them to book qatar.

You have never been able to transfer QF points to Avios, ever. Not sure what you are referencing.

I find its cheaper in the long run just to pay cash with another airline. QFF has done a good job of making people pay the higher QF fares in the vague hope of one day getting a business class seat (often to a place you didn't actually want to go).

Classic reward seats still exists even on QF metal, but since introduction of Classic Scam they as rare as hen's teeth. You will have better luck to book JAL, CX or BA rather than QF. Whats about QR they do not release their seats to QF and funneling them to Virgin because some kind of political tensions between QF and QR, as least this is what I been told.
