Virgin Atlantic touts free upgrades to HK

The nine hours between Sydney and Hong Kong will slip by a little faster this week if you’re on Virgin Atlantic.

The airline is shouting its Premium Economy passengers a free bump to Upper Class for flights through to October 29.

It’s only a one-way deal, but we doubt anyone will argue over spending half of your flying time in VA’s space-age and spacious Upper Class cabin with a two metre long lie-flat bed.

Guests get to choose which leg they spend at the pointy end of the plane, although the overnight VS200 service to Sydney (wheels up in HK at 7.10pm for a Sydney touchdown at 7.20am the next day) is bound to be most popular.

Sounds like a good deal, but is this upgrade a 100% gaurantee or do you have to take your chances that there will be a seat available on your chosen flight?

That really would suck if the upgrade was not a guaranteed thing. My guess is that they have very low bookings for upper class in October...
