Singapore Airlines launches HighFlyer business reward scheme

Businesses booking Singapore Airlines and SilkAir flights for their employees can now earn points on those company tickets through the airline’s new HighFlyer reward program.

Designed for businesses with up to 30 travelling employees, businesses can earn five HighFlyer points for every Singapore dollar spent on airfares (approximately A$0.95), excluding amounts paid for taxes and other government surcharges.

HighFlyer points are awarded whether travelling in Suites Class, first class, business class, premium economy or economy, provided the traveller has also linked their personal KrisFlyer membership number to the reservation and that the fare would normally accrue KrisFlyer miles.

Businesses won’t earn HighFlyer points if the traveller prefers to collect personal Virgin Australia Velocity points on the journey, or points or miles through a different frequent flyer scheme.

However, where HighFlyer points are earned, they come in addition to the personal KrisFlyer miles earned by the traveller (and PPS Club value, if flying business or first class), which continue to be awarded at the same rates.

HighFlyer points expire three years after they’ve been earned and have a value of SGD$0.01 each – giving an effective 5% rebate on airfares as five points are earned per SGD$1 spent – which can be applied towards the purchase of a Singapore Airlines or SilkAir flight, either in part or in full.

For example, with 42,500 HighFlyer points in your account you could purchase a SGD$425 fare outright with nothing to pay, or could apply the same points to a more expensive ticket to reduce the price by SGD$425 – such as to a SGD$2,350 booking, lowering the amount payable to SGD$1,925.

HighFlyer points cannot be converted into Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles or used to book traditional frequent flyer reward flights at set rates: they can only be used towards the purchase of flights at the retail ticket price.

The program is free to join, has no ongoing membership fee and no minimum spend requirements – you just need at least 3,000 HighFlyer points in your account before you can spend them, which you’d fetch after shelling out just SGD$600 on airfares.

For more information on HighFlyer or to join on behalf of your business, visit the Singapore Airlines website.

SIA are trying to tap into the corporate customer but they are not giving anything away.
I live in singapore and I fly SQ all the time on their corporate structured fees which is a massive savings of 3% off the normal rated fares. At least they are trying here with these High Flyer points.

Be very careful when trying to book or use this facility. I have booked 6 F class tickets via my agent and SQ would not accept my High Flyer number. They make this process completed and restrictive unlike QF business rewards. SQ you need to look at this if you wish to retain business customers
