Air New Zealand's first Boeing 787-9 set out from Seattle to its new home in Auckland on the morning of Thursday July 10, 2014.

And not only was Australian Business Traveller onboard the delivery flight of the world's first Boeing 787-9, we shot this video from inside the cabin as the Dreamliner took off from Paine Field.

The video was recorded on an iPhone 5S and that quiet almost-electronic buzz you'll hear is the native sound of the 787. No roaring conversation-killing engines thundering away on this jet.

This is definitely one for the #avgeek brigade, so settle back and enjoy...

Now that you've seen Air New Zealand's Boeing 787-9 leaving those sunny summer Seattle skies, click through to see exclusive photos of the big black bird's graceful touchdown in Auckland some 13 hours later.
