SYD to Dallas upgrade
Hey guys, i'm planning to go to USA around 18th aug. We are 3. my wife, myself and my 2.5yo daughter. I'm bronze FF with qantas but i have around 190k points.
Do i have any chance getting upgrade, is it hard to do it? I have never done it. I havent got the tickets yet. i will buy it in May

There are a few points to note here:
1. You are a bronze FF so that puts you at the bottom of the tree for upgrades - that means that everyone silver, gold, plat, plat 1 and CL will get their upgrades before you.
2. There more people you are requesting an upgrade for, the harder it is.
Putting your bronze status and the fact you are requesting an upgrade for three people, I'd say your chances are slim.

In short yes, it would be very difficult for a Bronze FF to get one upgrade on that route let alone three.
Chances might be better going Premium Economy to Business.

Chances are slim but not impossible. I once got an upgrade for three pax QF LAX - SYD PE to J for free but i look back now and think that was my lucky day!!

Also note that the very cheapest tickets (or fare buckets) in Economy aren't upgradeable at all.

My father and I are Qantas FF Bronze and we were both upgraded to business class from Dallas to Sydney. It can be done..of course it is up to luck.....make sure you purchase the upgradable fares.

No chances, sorry. To have any chances you should make separate booking - for 3 passengers no chances whatsoever because they do it for booking, not for passenger. Perhaps PE and even this questionable. But it cost nothing to try and hitting jackpot in Tattslotto also impossible, yet someone hitting it from time to time. Good Luck anyway.

How about request for premium economy? do i have more chances? And also i can buy the tickets any day of the week so i was thinking a not too busy day.
If i call qantas when i buy the tickets will help?
