Just heard on the radio that Air New Zealand will fly a Dreamliner
from Auckland to Perth then on to LHR to compete against Qantas. Air New Zealand
has a new lounge under construction at Perth International.
Thanks for sharing this info, guys, we're looking into this further – there's been no announcement from AirNZ so this may have just been a "we'd like to" or "in the future we plan to" observation – we'll come back with a bit more once we're heard back from AirNZ.
If this is true imagine the coup for air nz if they start before Qantas!
Would absolutely destroy all of Qantas's publicity!
Only thing stopping them would be slots in London. Doubt they would stop LA - London as very popular.
Does Air NZ have trafic rights from Australia to countries other than NZ?
Know they have rights Australia - US but what about UK?
They could also stun Qantas now by flying Perth to European destinations non stop, Frankfurt particularly.
Already have all their facilities in Perth and London already so could start very quickly! Maybe this has been on drawing board for a while! Hasn't air nz lounge in Perth just been upgraded!

There is no AirNZ lounge at Perth yet, but it's under construction :)

Awesome news! Been waiting to hear this. Certainly a better stopover than LAX.
