I have another 310 status credits required to attain Platinum. I have 400 credits worth of flying in the next 8 weeks, booked and confirmed via CX. Do you think QF will give me a pilot platinum (should i ask?) prior to these trips so i can use the first class lounges in Hong Kong (i fly out of BNE) during my transit?
You can try but your chances are slim to none, especially seeing as you aren't earning the SC directly through QANTAS but through a partner, not really much incentive for QF to do it.
Just FYI, there is an internal charge amongst the oneworld carriers when a partner airline's qualified tier member visits their lounge through tier entitlement (vs class of travel entitlement). Another reason why its unlikely to get across the line. However, I'm a firm believer in you don't get what you don't ask for... Australian companies are terrible at loyalty CRM.
While not a QF example, I was plonked into Singapore with work and made PPS before I made Gold or even Silver because of the amount of JCLS regional sectors I racked up, not miles. I called them a month out from attaining PPS and demonstrated my count and forward bookings. They gave me a 'courtesy elevation' to Silver, but that's it, and I made PPS as scheduled a month later without qualifying for Silver or Gold. They actually changed their system about 6 months later as it was demonstrated to be flawed.
I got it once BUT it was due to a pending return leg of an international flight (Finnair from memory) rather than yet to depart flights (hope that makes sense). I think the fact they are 'selling the gap' now also indicates the unlikelyhood of you getting a 'yes'. A shame but that's the way it is, we are but slaves to the system!
Just a question for anyone who has been in a similiar situation
I am 220 SC short of Platinum this year (ends 30th Oct) I have bonus 50 SC I can take from my recent trip to HK Should I take the 50 SC so I am only 170 SC short and hope they will renew my Platinum? Or contact QF and plead my case ? Or do nothing and hope for the best? I have been Platinum for the last few years (although short 50 SC last year) My last flight to HK tipped me over to lifetime Gold Although I have not flown so much this year it has all been on QF metal J class I thought I may have been offered to "pay the difference" with points but so far no contact from QF
There have been some reports of a pay the difference. I will be interested in seeing if you get a response from experienced folk out there. I am not planning as many trips next year so expecting to miss out too.
I rang QFF on the last day, and asked if I could "pay the difference" ,which cost me 120k points They said it will take a few days to show Platinum again, so far 11 days later still showing Gold... Only did it as I have plenty of points & trips to Europe & Asia coming up so can get some benefit from Platinum

The answer will be no, and so it should be. Status is awarded AFTER the flights, not before.

Won't happen. I tried this with 20 SC's remaining with no luck.

Obviously, some of you were upset at me just asking your opinions. (Lots of down votes :-) ) Thank you anyways

Don't ask QF for this. You just get your status credits earned and became Platinum then.
