The 787-9 doesn’t fly BNE-PER.

You will most likely be on a B737-800 and get the standard domestic Business class meals.

FYI. Qantas has scheduled the 787 to operate the QF589 BNE > PER service on Fridays from April 5 (as well as the return QF654 service on the same day).

I did the Bne to Per in Business last Dec. Meal is a 3 course affair and the wine flowed freely!.

I would pre-book just to be safe. Don’t want to do a 5 hour flight without eating. Either way, I’m sure the food will be great.

Not sure what QF offer for food service on their B737 which does most of the flights but VA offer a full 3 course service on BNE- PER flights.
I would imagine that QF would be much the same.
I'm sure you wont' starve.

Thanks 👍 being a pescatarian I’d like to know if they would have fish on the lunch menu 😊

Sometimes but not always. I do this route a lot. You could risk it - there’s usually a vegetarian soup to start, or a big bowl of it for mains. Between fish dishes and vegetarian dishes and dessert I would say you’ll be fine with 50% of the offerings. You luck will probably run out with mains. So if you’re determined to fill up order a vegetarian special meal. If you’re ok with a smaller meal, risk it and you might end up with a big bowl of (tasty) soup, sourdough and salad, and dessert. Best case scenario, there’s a fish mains, which sometimes happens.

One more thing: google “QANTAS australian frequent flyer domestic business class meals”. There’s a whole discussion group where people regularly post their menus and pics of the food in J class QF domestic. You’re welcome 😊

If I interpret the other comments correctly, it seems that the flight is being perated by a 787, as an interim measure possibly while they wait for additional 787s so that new routes can be added. I flew on a similar 787 flight MEL-PER last year and was able to select a premium economy seat on my economy ticket. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the menu was as you you expect in long haul premium economy (I expected economy food). So you may find the business class meals on your flight to more like what you would be served on a long haul flight. These menus are likely include a fish dish but there would be no guarantee and I doubt you could get a firm response from Qantason such a question (which is not unreasonable). I have a dietary issue but I prefer to risk skipping a meal occasionally rather than always taking the suitable special meal.
