Hi all I am flying Kuala Lumpur to Singapore on Malaysia Airlines then Singapore to Melbourne on Qantas. I have 3 hours between the 2 flights on separate tickets. I am in economy on the first leg and business on the second. I am Oneworld Emerald and my wife is Oneworld Sapphire. Will they interline the bags? Any tips?

Yes MH will interline your bags all the back to MEL even on separate tickets, and will be able to issue your boarding pass for both KUL/SIN and SIN/MEL.

So, what the guys above are saying is the MH will interline bags at the counter if connecting onto Qantas (and any Oneworld partner) if on a different ticket, but Qantas will not reciprocate the same?

The answer to that question is “it does not matter”.

Transferring luggage between flights is one of the services that Singapore Airport provides for travellers (Singapore Airport is unique in that sense)

Even if Malaysia Airlines checks your luggage only to Singapore, you can go to a transfer counter in Changi airport and ask the airport to transfer your luggage on your behalf.

You will not have to go through immigration, collect your luggage and check it back in. It will be taken care of by the airport.

Well they might be saying that but it's certainly not the case. I've had my bags checked all the way through when flying to KUL via SIN from SYD - QF to MH
