Watching most QF flights this does seem to be the case these days. Is it the same when you try to pay for seat allocation? (Assuming you’re in economy class?). Or you might need to wait for T-80.....

If history is true to form, closer to the date, many will be released. It’s a ploy Qantas use.

I'd suggest either your status isn't high enough or the flight is full. You mentioned July. Is it in school holidays?

Sounds like the most logical reason. Holding seats for the higher fare buckets I would imagine and drip feed them out to the market.
