Hi all. My sister is flying to Tel Aviv tomorrow. I have just reached Gold Status/OW Sapphire and have a lounge invitation that I can send via my QFF account to a relative.

She is flying QF MEL-BKK followed by El Al from HKG-TLV/ If I gift her the lounge pass, can she use it to enter the QF lounge in HKG whilst waiting for her EL AL flight?

Thanks in advance!

No she can't.

No. A lounge pass needs to be attached to a Qantas flight booking to be used so in that case, it'd be impossible to do so. BUT, if she is flying Melbourne to Bangkok with Qantas, she can access the Qantas lounge on that flight using your lounge passes.

If your sister is returning HKG-MEL at a later date on a QF operated flight, then she can access the QF Lounge at HKG using a complimentary lounge pass. She would have to have received and have linked it to her flight booking at least 24 hours before the QF flight.

And keep in mind that you can transfer lounge passes to anyone, whilst QF points can only be transferred to a family member.

Thanks guys,

She gave me her QFF login details, I checked the Booking and nothing came up. This is because of one or both of two reasons I have discovered.

1. She books these flights on El-Al Website
2. She obviously doesn't give her QFF details when flying, which is stupid. However, when she arrives in TLV I will get the details of her past QF segments and will claim missing points. I also noticed that she only had only 9000 QFF points, which were are expiring on Aug 31st. This makes me slightly peeved as she often relies on the kindness of my retired mother to help with flight costs.

If your daughter hasn't received the QFF points for her QF MEL-BKK flight before the end of August, she ought to transfer her 9,000 points to you (on loan) to prevent them from expiring.
