I wouldn't do it - but then I'd try to move onto QF71 and get the A330 :)
It's a 5pm departure out of a Perth, so you get a nice meal and sleeping probably won't be that important. Just did Perth-Melbourne-Christchurch on A330 changing to 737. While the 737 is not as spacious in business, its fine for your timing and vastly better than economy!

It's not a 737, it's an A332.

Well it really comes down to a personal choice.
- How many points do you have and what value do you ascribe to them?
- what's you FF status, can you use the Lounges, etc, irrespective of an upgrade?
Only you can decide if it's a good use of your points or not.
