Qantas - Qantas Frequent Flyer

Yesterday's Australian provided an update on the dispute between Perth Airport and Qantas. There often comments in this forum to the effect of being to the customers' benefit for them to sort it out and get on with providing more international services. Well that isn't going to happen soon, unless (my view) Qantas decide they want to settle and move on.
The court has instructed Qantas to hand over massive numbers of documents which will allow the profitability of Perth services to evaluated. The full hearing for the case is not scheduled and not expected this year.
It will be interesting to see a monopoly airport argue it should get more of the revenue based on profitability of each party.

It may suit qantas to wait a year or more and wind the clock down. Their 789s are all committed; Perth airport will need to start building the new Qantas extension soon so it's ready for the rail connection, and needs to ask what Qantas wants and depending on the fees whether qantas will expand further in Asia and Europe with more swing gates. The pressure may be on the airport for an earlier deal. It may realise it needs its biggest customer more than they need it.
