I specifically said 'that late' in reference to that flight that supposedly departed around midnight.

Your conclusion that QF is beginning to operate like EK is flawed as it is based on a limited data set for a single metric (departure time) for a single flight (QF1).

QF1 on departure time from Sydney relies on QF domestic connections (and to a limited extent from NZ), availability of aircraft, and air traffic around SYD among other factors. EK OTD has no relevance whatsover to QF1 departing on time.

I was joking re: QF becoming like EK. I know that QF has generally a very good on-time record.

But anything from SYD is always effected by ATC etc. I doubt it is with domestic connections. They would not hold up a flight for 5+ hours due to a Domestic flight being late... As this would have a flow on effect of Landing slots at LHR. So it must be other 'technical' reasons.

However I do stand by my point on EK.

Perhaps we are being too picky on the status of this flight! It seemed to me that there were perennial problems, but no more than any other route!

Thanks for all your feedback

Even worse for this delayed flight today, for it's departure from the gate was 7.40 am, and it's actual takeoff wasn't till 8.20.

How does one learn what the actual cause is of such a delay?
