At 1505 I received the following email from Virgin:

Dear guest,

From 13 October 2020 to 21 October 2020, we will be making some changes to our Travel Bank system. During this time, customers will not be able to use their Travel Bank to make a booking and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. The Travel Bank service will be available again from 22 October 2020.

Kind regards,
Virgin Australia

You will note that TODAY is the 13th, so we have effectively been denied access to our funds without notice for 8 days. This does not bode well for the future!

The more interesting bit is WHAT changes they are making, that required 10 days to change?

This was flagged at least a month ago in a previous email. I have no idea what the 10 days is about, but they did give some forewarning.

Ah. OK must have missed that earlier email. Did they say what they were doing? Agree with XWu . What system swap requires eight days. In the IT world that I live in you'd be lucky to get an hour our two from 1 am!

I noticed at some stage last week they credited all my conditional credits into my travel bank balance. So prior to the change which started yesterday I was able to use it all (on Business Saver flights, which are still "refundable", though to the Future Flight credit)

Basically they are introducing the Future Flight credits in which they need to take the system offline. Though I expect they are doing a major system change / migration as aprt of this.
