Singapore Airlines launches Western Sydney Airport flights
Mar 25, 2026, 02:02 PMVery nice timing. Will be a serious consideration for us (Canberra based) if we end up flying out of Sydney when going overseas - especially if combined with competitive parking costs at WSI (ha I know that's being hopeful).

Why Finnair chose Melbourne for its first Australian route
Mar 10, 2026, 03:57 PMCan't go wrong with a day in Helsinki if it can work for you. Great little city, lots to see and do, easy to get around. Well worth it!

China’s 450km/h bullet train is the fastest ever built
Mar 10, 2026, 03:54 PMThe Chinese are pretty pragmatic in their overall network management in terms of speed - there is definitely a national prestige angle to this, but suspect in service it may well be wound back a bit from 400 km/hr, outside of maybe one or two 'flying scotsman' equivalent daily services.

China’s 450km/h bullet train is the fastest ever built
Mar 10, 2026, 03:52 PMIt took a long time, but to be fair, the Victoria Park stadium option is vastly superior to the Gabba Redevelopment option, which even if the school moved, still would have faced significant site constraints.

Virgin Departing Canberra
Nov 30, 2020, 11:28 AMYou may well be spot on greg re: Canberra Airport. notorious for it - the Snow's have done some good things with that airport site, but pissed a lot of people off over time as well, so would not surprise me if this was just the latest in a long list of those things.

Virgin Departing Canberra
Nov 23, 2020, 10:24 AMI would think Canberra - Melbourne might stay too with Virgin at once a day return perhaps, but with additional flights from Alliance as such. Just have to wait and see - but if its all Alliance out of Canberra, just another reason why my Velocity Gold sigh will become a thing of the past for sure.

Travel Bank Fiasco
Oct 14, 2020, 10:32 AMThis was flagged at least a month ago in a previous email. I have no idea what the 10 days is about, but they did give some forewarning.

What will Virgin look like now?

What will Virgin look like now?
Apr 20, 2020, 06:35 PMIt's hard to know, but what we all know is we need two strong competing airlines in Australia - not one. Even a shorter term 12-24 months in which there is only one would do immeasurable damage imho and should be avoided at all costs.None of this is to say Virgin hasn't been optimally managed - t...
