I'm sure it's been asked before but I can't seem to find a definitve answer. So a friend is a Qantas member with zip status and is on a Cairns-Sydney upgrade to business flight, connecting onto a regular economy flight after to Hobart ( there is business available on this flight - seems to be a factor on some information I read).
Two questions
- can they enter the business lounge in Sydney whilst connecting?
- can I join them in the lounge as a guest if not flying?
Lounge access is available if connecting from a long haul business flight but that is not the case for your friend. Your friend will not have lounge access in Sydney.

If your friend has Platinum status or higher then they can enter the Sydney lounge after the flight.
