Qantas Domestic Upgrade Rewards request

Hi,

I have recently booked a flight for 2 pax from Hamilton Island to Melbourne for a few months from now and put in a request for a business class upgrade. My understanding is that confirmation and upgrade should be immediate for domestic flights and if there is business reward availability (which there are 2 reward seats left). I have tried a few suggestions from previous threads like cancel the request and retry, and also wait a few days but nothing has happened. Also called up qantas after waiting on hold for hours and they were less than helpful. Can anyone help me?

Generally yes that is the case.

Is your flight ticketed yet? If it hasn't been you will find this the main reason as to why you haven't received your upgrade.

Hi, thanks for replying. If I've received the email with e-ticket itinerary and number starting with 081-**********, Does that means it's ticketed? Also the date issued was a week ago.

Hi spazmos,

Assuming that you also have a 6 letter/digit booking reference, that sounds like you have a legitimate booking.

Have you tried using the Qantas app? Get the most up to date version, and I believe you can instigate an upgrade through that and get an almost immediate confirmation.

Sounds like a case of HUACA unfortunately. If it has been ticketed the upgrade request should go through.

Yeh, same thing happened the second time I called, the phone agent was in denial that my upgrade should have been immediate. I have also noticed that the seat map for business class is not available when putting making a dummy booking rather it asks for your seat preference aisle or window... Wondering if this would be the reason why the upgrade isn't confirmed?
