Optus launches HTC One with free Qantas frequent flyer points

Optus has cooked up a new way to tempt travellers with HTC's latest smartphone: offer them a fistful of Qantas Frequent Flyer points.

Current Optus postpaid customers will rake in 8,000 bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points when they upgrade to the dazzling HTC One, which wraps a large lush 4.7 inch HD screen and quad-core 1.7GHz powerplant into an elegant design.

Newcomers to Optus will earn 4,000 bonus QFF points.

The only caveat is that your monthly plan needs to exceed $60 – but that's the lowest plan you'd reasonably want to be on, as it serves up 1.5GB of data along with $650 of calls and unlimited texts (plus free calls to other Optus mobiles).

The HTC One runs on Optus' 4G and 3G networks, and the Qantas points deal is open until 30 June 2013.

A great way to lure customers to Optus... now all they have to do is fix up their network (re: coverage) and I am on-board. I would even consider switching the home-phone to Optus to take advantage of 6 points per dollar spent... but again, their service is no good to me... and I live in the south of Brisbane.

A great way to lure...

Except for $18/mth no contract you can ge 1.5Gb and similar call value via TPG.

Just by the phone outrightfor about $750.

TPG - $750 + 24x$18 = $1182

Optus - 24x$63 = $1512 (although the Optus website says $1992)
