Perth gets new Westin hotel

Starwood has big plans for Perth, with a new Westin luxury hotel slated to open in 2017.

The Westin Perth will be located on Hay Street in the heart of the central business district, marking the brand’s entry into Western Australia following existing properties in both Sydney and Melbourne.

“Perth is undergoing a rapid transformation with the opening of new bars, restaurants and retail outlets, and this is a prime location for development and the Westin brand’s entry into Western Australia,” said Starwood’s Andrew Taylor, Director of Acquisitions & Development – Pacific.

Situated amidst a mixed-use precinct of retail, commercial and entertainment space, the hotel will feature 320 standard guestrooms.

Thirty suites are also on the cards, boasting the signature Westin Heavenly Bed – comprised of lush sheets, a down and a patented pillow-top mattress – and an ergonomic work area.

The penthouse suite will live up to its name with an expansive rooftop deck, private pool and intimate entertaining space, catering to A-list stars in town to perform at the Perth Arena.

Starwood’s Andrew Taylor, Director Acquisitions & Development – Pacific shares that Perth “has the highest occupancies and average daily rates in the country”, making it ideal soil in which to plant a high-end hotel.

The hotel will offer two distinct food and beverage venues: the Lobby Lounge, and a full service restaurant – providing a range of healthy, nutritious fare, while guests can also make use of an indulgent spa, large-scale fitness centre and an outdoor infinity swimming pool.

Over 1,000 square metres of meeting space will be available, comprised of an 800-square metre ballroom and 340-square metres of divisible function facilities, while a business centre and an executive lounge will also come in handy for business travellers.

This addition to the Starwood group in Perth comes after the opening of the Four Points by Sheraton Perth in 2012, and will follow the Aloft Rivervale hotel, planned for 2016.
